PTO President Maryrose ODonnell opened meeting at 5:30 p.m.

Agenda:

• PTO bank - $ 3,319.40
• World Greatest Chocolates – selling until March
• May 7, 2016 – Annual Spring Festival. Committee to help with festival. Possibly having a chili cook-off.  Inviting people who do the car shows. Sumo-Bots. And if any vendors would like to sell.
• School Beautification Project. Committee to help.
• Meeting adjourned at 5:45.

PTO GENERAL ASSEMBLY MEETING  3/24

 

May 7 Spring Festival - from 11am to 3pm

Fees for :

     Outside Vendors $30

      Students Clubs $10

We need to get some donations for the silent auction baskets.  Also have some of the classes do a themed basket.  Best basket from each grade level will win a pizza party.

      

 

Earth Day -  School Beautification, if possible. Clean around school, plant some plants, maybe paint?

               Release of Catalog Fundraising, possibly on April 1.

 

 

PTO Assisting with Sports Banquet & Senior Banquet

 

Teacher's Appreciation Week Starting May 3 for 1 week   - Ideas?

 Doing a potluck for the teachers from the parents

 

PTO General Assembly Meeting

Friday January 29, 2016

Opening:

PTO President Maryrose ODonnell opened meeting at 6:00 p.m. by introducing the PTO members who were present.

Agenda:

• STEM Festival – February 6, 2016 from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.
• Announcement for the World’s Greatest Chocolate Sale. Monday – Friday after school, parents can pick up chocolates to sale. No limit - can sale as many boxes as you want. If your child is in a club and each box they sell their club will receive $20.00. If they are not in a club they can get a $10 gift card. Every 2 weeks there will be a raffle for a gift card for the students who sell a box.  And the grade who sells the most will receive a 1 pound chocolate bar.
• Open House for those who would like to attend HSA.  Wednesday February 3, 2016 and Saturday February 6, 2016.
• Spring Festival – May 7, 2016
• PTO meetings held the last Thursday of the month or during a celebration
• Meeting adjourned at 6:30 p.m.

                        Fall Festival - Oct. 30 5pm to 9pm  Need Parent Volunteers!
                        Zombie Walk rescheduled to Nov. 6
                        Nov. 19 Spirit Nite - Laser Tag - All proceeds will benefit the Athletic
                             Dept.   PTO is assisting the Athletic Dept. in raising funds to purchase track suits
                              to all our athletes, starting with High School athletes.

• Next PTO meeting will be in Nov. 19 at 6pm.  We'll be having our Thanksgiving Potluck Dinner.  We would like to invite all the HSA Families to join us and bring a dish to share with everyone.  PTO will be providing the Turkey.

SCHOLARSHIP FUND ACCOUNT

 

A scholarship fund has been voted on by PTO Board Officers last year.  Our scholarship Fund Account  (SFA) is created to help students in great need of assistance with school related issues (ex. Cost of SAT fee or College Application fees). There are two ways that our SFA builds funds (1) Family Spirit Night and (2) Donations.  All of our Family Spirit Night events not only build a unity representing our school, showing school spirit but also all of the funds raised at each Spirit Night goes directly to our SFA.  All donations of any kind are always welcome. CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR HIGH SCHOOL HISTORY TEACHER MRS. ARCE for being named District 20 Social Studies Teacher of the Year award!

 

NATURES VISION FUNDRAISING FORMS are due tomorrow Sept. 25. PTO will be in the school lobby to collect them from 230pm to 4pm

 

BAKE SALE – If you would like to donate any goodies to sell, pls. drop them off at the front office.  Or if you would like to volunteer on Tuesday or Thursday, pls.  let us know

BOX TOPS

 

Our Box Tops collection will be at the end of October.  Pls. continue to cut and save your Box Tops.  We will be having a contest between DEAR classes.  Classes that collects the most Box Tops will win a Donut or Ice Cream Party.

Pls. go to shoparoo.com and sign up to raise funds for our school.  I’ts easy and free!

Just sign up and scan your receipts and it will build funds for HSA SA PTO.  Last year we raised $161

TEACHER’S GOODIE JAR

 

PTO will be stocking a goodie jar in each teacher’s lounge filled with snacks (ex. Health bars, nuts, chocolates, etc) Just a little something to help them get through their day! If you would like to donate a store bought item for this, pls. drop it off at front office.

As of today, PTO has a balance of $4,977.50 in our account. This included the profit we recently made of over $1500 from the Nature's Vision Fundraising!

Announcements and discussions made by PTO President

•  501c3 status has been approved and we are now a legal non-profit.

•  Biomedical Class students are in need of scrubs.  PTO is collecting gently used scrubs for HSA SA’s biomedical students.  If you have any that you would like to donate please contact us or drop off with front office.

•  Gourmet Popcorn and Tumblers pick-up is today

Pizza party will be held or students that sold 10 or more. 

There will also be an adoption party where students will have an opportunity to donate funds to shelter of their choice.

• Holiday Store:

          December will begin our holiday store.  This will be a store for students to   

          be able to come in and shop for gifts for family members or shop for 

          themselves.  We will have gifts at a great price for the whole family.

•  Fall Festival:

It is tomorrow and PTO will have a booth so come by and visit us!

Funds raised at all fundraisers go to events and needs for the students and teachers at Harmony Science Academy-San Antonio! 

 

BAKE SALE

PTO will be having weekly Bake Sales in front of school every Wednesday and Friday after school dismissal. 

Bake Sale funds so far:

  9/10: $106.37

  9/12: $223.00

  9/17: $138.75

Volunteers are needed!  

FINANCIAL REPORT

Our current balance for this year is $3,654.36

Our yearly budget is in progress.

At this time of the year we review all request from clubs in school to see how we can help. 

This year we would like to be able to contribute more than the years past!  Our goal is always out do last year!

Our current Membership count is 91 parents.

We will be running a membership drive to get the word out!

We are also encouraging all staff and high school students to become members. 

All high school students will be considered members and are counted as member within their family.  There is not additional cost for this.

Financial Report

            Fundraising goals:

                        Pay for the cost of 501c3 status

School Flashing Lights

Harmony has asked PTO to announce that they are asking all parents to donate monetary funds to help with the cost of the flashing lights.  There is no donation to large or too small.  The goal is 8k and the deadline is the second week of October. 

Parents recommended:

            Raffling off baskets (ex: starbucks)

Selling water bottles to parents while they are waiting in line to pick up children

Car wash and have students help

How can PTO increase parent attendance at meetings?

            Parents suggested:

 Selling dinner meals for $10 each meal.  If meals were sold for $10 more parents might be more willing to attend.

 Diana Kumar offered the help of her husband who is an executive chef to make meals instead of ordering pizza. 

Possible performance by children this way parents would come to watch.

                                   Getting the word out by putting flyers on the cars.

Parents and Grandparents played Bingo and enjoyed the rest of the evening by winning prizes and having their photos taken
